Roses that we know as hybrid teas and floribundas did not exist during the 1700’s. Immigrants to America brought rose cuttings with them, and they are referred to as “old Garden roses. The Damask Rose or the Gallica are examples. The class of antique roses can be traced back to the China Rose introduced in Europe about 1792z. They were the first repeat bloomers known to the western world.
