ABOUT ME

A dentist by profession, my journey into storytelling was inspired by my travel throughout the United States, Europe, and the Middle East while serving in the military and presenting lectures at dental schools. A retired United States Army colonel, I was commissioned as a captain during the Vietnam War, was activated for duty during Operation Desert Storm, and was the command dental surgeon of the Third United States Army, during which time I served in most of the Middle Eastern Countries and in East Africa. My last assignment overseas was in Mogadishu, Somalia. I also commanded the 333rd Medical Detachment in Savannah, Georgia, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Presidential Order of Military Medical Merit.

In between deployments, I maintained a private dentistry practice, was an associate professor and department chair at Emory University in Atlanta, wrote many scientific papers and articles, and lectured extensively at universities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia. I am an officer of the Venerable Order of Saint John of Jerusalem whose sovereign head is Queen Elizabeth II.
